IMPROVED SECURITY
December 30, 2011
The Cadillac Escalade has won many awards over the years for its styling, performance, and sales volume. Of all these awards there is one thorn in its side, it is the fact that the Escalade is the perennial leader for the most stolen vehicle in America. Cadillac is not very proud to hold this honor, and over the years they have tried new techniques to deter thieves from stealing the segment leading luxury Sports Utility Vehicle. This year Cadillac has teamed up with various U.S. law enforcement agencies to stay ahead of the latest techniques used by vehicle thieves. GM believes that the new measures make the Escalade one of the most thorough security protection systems on the market. Coming in 2012 new Escalades will be equipped with four new features that Cadillac says will make the Escalade “no longer a pushover for push-away or tow thieves.” New standard features include a Pass Key 3+ that deters drive-away thefts by an enhanced encryption system, and a new steering column lock to deter push away thefts. Cadillac also is offering an inclination sensor that will set off an alarm if the vehicle detects a change in angle, a new wheel lock system, and a shock sensor to deter thefts that start by breaking of windows.
Cadillac is hoping these new features will help 2012 Cadillac owners from the inconvenience of the theft of their vehicle, but only time will tell.
